Almé
Almè,a few km from Bergamo,an Italian town of 5,624 inhabitants in the province of Bergamo, Lombardy. Located between the mouth of the Brembana Valley and the plain of Almenno, on the left bank of the Brembo River, it is about 8 kilometers northwest of the Orobic capital.
In the town, some views with a high historical content can still be observed: this is the case of the Borghetto district, where signs of ancient fortifications are still visible, and the San Fermo square where there is an ancient tower dating back to the 11th century.
In the religious sphere, very interesting is the old parish church, of which there are records as early as the 15th century. Expanded and renovated during the 18th and 19th centuries, it was deconsecrated following the construction of the new parish church of St. John the Baptist and St. Mary of the Assumption in 1956. Interesting works can be seen inside, including paintings by Carlo Ceresa and Palma il Vecchio, which belonged to the old church, in which the bells still ring since the present one does not have a bell tower.
Finally worthy of note are Villa Carnazzi and Villa Odoni-Mismetti, stately buildings dating back to the 18th century.
